Pitching Instructors – Why Use Phases?
Medium
Pulled from Dan Keller’s presentation at the 2018 ABCA Convention in Indianapolis. This excerpt highlights the reasons for “chunking” instruction into bite-size pieces.
Big Idea:
PHASES ALLOW THE ATHLETE TO GROW, DEVELOP, AND MATURE WITH THE MATERIAL. PHASE #1 IS POSITIONS, WHILE PHASE #2 ADVANCES INTO MOVEMENTS. GIVE YOUR ATHLETE THE BEST CHANCE TO RETAIN INSTRUCTION BY USING THIS SIMPLE LOGIC. GOOD EXAMPLE WITH GLOVE ARM!
Dan Keller is a long time member of the American Baseball Coaches Association, and has presented at both the ABCA Barnstormers Tour as well as the national convention. For access to this entire presentation and other fantastic instructional content, visit the ABCA’s Video Center.
