What is: Early Baserunning
Easy
A descriptive segment highlighting Dugout Captain practice absolute #3 – Early Baserunning. This segment is run immediately following the Warm Up. Simply explained, this involves adding a baserunning fundamental to the final 3-4 sprints of the Warm Up. The athletes will be sprinting anyway… might as well teach them something!
EXECUTION – With athletes in their warm up lines, take 60-seconds to introduce, or review, a baserunning fundamental. Then, take turns executing while reaching a full-speed sprint.
DC KEYS
- Simple & Quick – This segment should be no longer than five minutes in total. Talk for a minute, get 3-4 sprints, and move into throwing.
- Connect It – Can you connect Early Baserunning with the topics covered last practice during Baserunning/Conditioning? Or, can you briefly introduce a movement that is to be covered later that day?
